MCBAMarion County Bar Association has created a lawyer referral service for the public to browse and pick and attorney by issue.
The Marion County Bar Association (MCBA) was established in 1989. The goal of the organization is to promote professionalism and camaraderie within the legal community. Through our monthly meetings we strive to support our members & their practices by providing local court administrative updates, and educating members through free continuing education certification (CLEs).
The Marion County Bar Association Young Lawyers Division (“MCBA YLD”) is composed of area young lawyers who are 36 years old or younger or who have been practicing less than five years. Over the years, MCBA YLD has hosted various community events and donated thousands of dollars to local charities.

President
A native of Ocala, Rob graduated from the University of Florida in 2005 and the University of Florida Levin College of Law in 2010. Rob began his career in Orlando as an attorney and in 2021, returned to Ocala to serve as General Counsel to the Office of the Marion County Clerk of Court and Comptroller. In his free time, Rob loves spending time with his wife and two small children.
Vice President
Shanta was born and raised right here in Ocala, FL. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the Florida State University and her Juris Doctorate from the University of Florida, Levin College of Law in 2009. After law school, she returned to Ocala and has practiced law here ever since. She served as an Assistant Public Defender for two years and worked for Daniel L. Hightower, P.A., before starting her own firm.
She serves on the 5th Judicial Circuit Nominating Commission and is a member of the Estate Planning Council of Marion County. She is also actively involved in the local community. She mentors high school students through Take Stock in Children and is a member of the Junior League of Ocala.
She is a lover of travel and all things “DIY.” Green is her favorite color. She is married and has six year old twins that keep her on her toes constantly.
Treasurer
Ian is currently an attorney at the Douglas Law Firm Ocala Office. He was previously as Assistant State Attorney in Marion County. Ian earned a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Westminster College (Pa) and his Juris Doctorate from Florida Coastal School of Law. Ian is also a Member of the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (FACDL), the Florida Justice Association (FJA) and is currently the Treasurer for the Marion County Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (MCACDL).
Secretary
Native to Ocala, FL, Josh obtained his Bachelor’s degree in 2011 from the University of South Florida in Tampa, FL followed by his Juris Doctorate Degree from Stetson University College of Law located in Gulfport, FL in 2015. Josh has been providing legal services to his hometown of Ocala, FL since obtaining his law license in 2015, and currently practices Estate Planning, Probate, and Trust law as the Managing Partner at his law firm, Richard & Moses, LLC located in Ocala’s Historic District on Fort King Street.
